Workshop Process
01 — Bring an idea
Start with a photograph, existing artwork, or an idea you’d like to develop. You can prepare artwork beforehand or make something simple during class with our support.
02 — Learn & create
We’ll demonstrate how Riso works, including color separation and preparing artwork. Then we’ll meet with you individually to explore ink choices and guide your approach as you develop or adapt your artwork for printing.
03 — Print & Connect
See your artwork become a printed edition to take home. Meet the other makers in your class, share what you’ve created, and, if you’d like, contribute an extra print to our studio archive.

Why learn Risograph printing?
Riso brings bold color, beautiful texture, and a human, handmade quality to your artwork. Spot-color inks such as fluorescent pink, metallic gold, and white offer possibilities beyond standard CMYK printing.
A workshop gives you room to experiment with color and layering, embrace unexpected results, and see your work differently. The process’s imperfections can help you loosen up and get creativity flowing. Whether you’re making prints, greeting cards, or zines, you’ll leave with something you made and inspiration for what comes next.

Why take a workshop at Posy?
Under the neon glow of our light-filled studio at Goat Farm Arts Center, you’ll explore the dreamy world of risograph printing. With pink furniture, riso artwork by Atlanta artists, and an all-women professional team, Posy is a place to safely express yourself and experiment with support. You can bring an unfinished idea, ask questions, and try something unfamiliar. We meet you wherever you are in your creative process and help you explore what’s possible.
You’ll work with a palette of 15 Riso ink colors and choose between two premium paper stocks. Sessions are typically supported by more than one team member, making room for individual attention alongside group learning.
Our approach connects Riso to the way you already make art. Depending on the class, we explore physical artwork, scanning, and digital tools such as Spectrolite, helping you discover approaches that suit your work. Everything is guided, so you can focus on experimenting with someone there to help.
You’re also entering a growing creative community. Workshops are often where those connections begin, with memberships and future sessions offering ways to keep making, learning, and sharing work together.

No. Our introductory workshops welcome beginners, including people who don’t consider themselves artists or designers. A photograph, simple drawing, collage, or interesting texture can become a beautiful print.
Specialized workshops may have experience or software requirements. Check the individual listing before booking.

Yes, if it fits the format, ink colors, and print quantity included in your class. Beginner workshops use 8.5 × 11-inch sheets, with templates provided for projects such as postcards and mini-zines.
Each registration covers the project described in the workshop listing. Printing several different designs, making more copies than the included quantity, using specialty paper, or producing a publication made from multiple sheets requires separate planning.
If that sounds like your project, start with a Riso consultation. We’ll review what you want to make and guide you toward the right printing service.
-
Bring your own artwork or work you have permission to print. You may not print another artist’s work without permission or make a close derivative, including through generative AI. We may decline work that does not meet our artwork use policy.
-
Join the waitlist on the workshop page, where available, to hear about future sessions. You can also explore our private workshop options if the public dates don’t fit your schedule.
