MAP Rover x Posy Press Risograph Animation Residency Presented by Downtown Atlanta Inc.

A funded residency supporting a group of Atlanta artists interested in exploring time-based media, public art, & Risograph printmaking.

Artists-in-residence will develop original time-based visual artworks (such as a video or animation), translate that work into Risograph prints, and recompose the printed materials into new moving-image pieces designed for public presentation through Downtown Atlanta Inc.'s MAP Rover program.

The MAP Rover + Posy Press Risograph Animation Residency combines artistic development, technical skill building, production support, and public exhibition, creating a pathway from experimentation to presentation.

Selected artists will receive:
  • Free participation in the MAP Rover + Posy Press Risograph Animation Residency 
  • Guided access to Posy Press equipment and facilities
  • Materials and production support
  • Public exhibition opportunity through Downtown Atlanta Inc.’s MAP Rover
  • $500 Artist stipends administered separately by Downtown Atlanta Inc.‍

ELIGIBILITY

Applications are open to artists working in any discipline. Preference will be given to artists with an interest in animation, moving image, video, motion design, performance documentation, or other time-based media. Experimental and interdisciplinary proposals are especially encouraged. 

Applicants must:
  • Reside in the Metro Atlanta area (considered the following countries: Dekalb, Fulton, Cobb, Gwinnett, Clayton)
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Apply as an individual artist, not a collaborative group or team
  • Be a practicing artist who demonstrates ability or curiosity for motion arts (video, animation, motion design, performance art, etc.)
  • Be able to complete all four in-person residency sessions at Posy Press occurring at the Goat Farm in West Midtown

EXPECTATIONS

Artists must complete all four in-person residency sessions at Posy Press: 10/8, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5 from 6-9PM. If a resident is unable to attend a session due to extenuating circumstances, Posy Press may offer access to recorded workshop instruction and a limited make-up consultation during designated studio hours. These accommodations are intended to support continuity of the residency and are not a substitute for full workshop participation.

Each artist will create either two 4-second animations or one 8-second animation. An 8-second piece will consist of approximately 96 frames at 12 fps, with frames organized across roughly two 11 × 17-inch Risograph contact sheets.

At the end of the residency, contribute a new moving image piece to be exhibited through Downtown Atlanta’s MAP Rover Program on November 13th, 2026.

To be considered, please submit your application by September 10th, 11:59 PM EST.
Applications and all supporting materials must be received by September 10th, 2026 11:59 PM EST. Late submissions will not be considered. Selected applicants will be notified no later than September 21, and the complete list of residents will be announced at the beginning of October.
