Advanced Riso For Vector Design Workshop
Dates: Tuesday and Thursday, April 14 and April 16
Time: 6:00–9:00 PM
Location: Posy Press (Goat Farm Arts Center)
Join Samantha Richardson of Posy Press for a hands-on workshop focused on preparing vector artwork for Risograph printing. During this two-day workshop, you’ll learn how to transform digital illustrations into bold, layered prints using the workflows professional designers use when preparing artwork for press.
Participants will learn how to simplify vector designs, add texture, combine lettering and shapes, and separate artwork into color layers for Risograph printing. These techniques are commonly used in professional print production for posters, brand illustrations, merchandise, and event graphics.
Participants will bring their own vector artwork and leave with a small edition of finished prints. Throughout the session you’ll experiment with test prints before producing your final edition on 30 sheets of premium French Paper.
The first day will focus on preparing artwork in Adobe Illustrator, where Samantha will guide participants through color separation, texture techniques, and file preparation for Risograph printing.
The second day will be a printing day, where we produce final prints of our prepared artwork on the Risograph.
Participants are encouraged to bring existing vector illustrations or graphic designs to work with during the class. Basic familiarity with Adobe Illustrator is recommended. We recommend participants take our Intro to Riso workshop before attending.
Requirements:
Laptop (Mac or PC)
Adobe Illustrator access is recommended.
